Winged Silence
In my art I tend to pull inspiration from written work. For this piece I got inspiration from Maya Angelou’s “Caged Bird” and Charles Bukowski’s “Bluebird”. Both poems center on the idea of an inner voice or essence that persists despite repression. The caged bird sings even when trapped, and the bluebird still lives inside Bukowski even though he hides it away. Each poem suggests that the true self — whether it’s a cry for freedom or a hidden tenderness — can’t be fully destroyed by external or internal cages.
